VIDEO: A Kenyan love story by Maiyet

WORDS by CHRISTIE FYNN MORGAN | IMAGES SUPPLIED by MAIYET

“This is where everything started.”

This is a little throwback to Cary Fukunaga’s short film for fashion brand, Maiyet from 2012.

On her first visit to East Africa, a young woman crosses paths with the Ranger charged with being her guide. They have something in common and when they meet, a light within them both begins to flicker.

Maiyet’s visual love story is set against a romantic East African backdrop and portrays a young woman at a crossroads in life. It’s a hauntingly beautiful video capturing their Resort 2013 Collection. We still love it after all these years. You’ll watch this over and over again.

If you are wanting to read more about Kenya there are plenty of books that we can recommend written by Karen Blixen and many more in Kenya’s Happy Valley
